Privacy Statement
The Montana PM Academy is a training site built and delivered for the State of Montana State Information Technology Services Division (SITSD) by Modus Institute. This statement describes what the site collects, why, who can see it, and how long it is kept. It is written plainly and reflects how the site actually works.
Last updated: June 12, 2026.
What we hold
What the site collects
The site collects only what it needs to run the training:
- Account information — the email address and password you use to sign in. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text.
- Learning progress — which units you have marked complete, so the trail map and dashboard can show you where you are.
- Your contributions — comments, reflections, and pulse-check responses you submit inside a unit. These are tied to your account so your instructor can respond.
- Certification requests — if you request a certificate of completion, the name and email you provide for it.
- Basic operational data — standard web server and hosting logs (such as request times and error traces) used to keep the site running and secure.
The site does not run advertising trackers, sell data, or build a marketing profile of you.
Purpose
Why we collect it
Each item above exists to deliver the course: to sign you in, to remember your progress, to let instructors coach you on your written work, and to issue certificates. We do not use this information for any purpose unrelated to running the academy.
Access
Who can see your information
- You see your own account, progress, and contributions.
- Instructors and administrators (Modus Institute staff and designated SITSD program leads) can see learner progress and the comments and reflections submitted, in order to coach and to report on the cohort.
- Other learners do not see your private reflections or pulse-check responses.
Processors
Service providers
A small number of vendors process data on the site’s behalf, under their own terms:
- Vercel — hosts and serves the application.
- Mux — delivers the course videos and provides playback. Standard video delivery and viewing data may be processed to stream the content reliably.
These providers act as processors for the academy and are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing.
AI
AI and your data
Your data is not used to train artificial-intelligence models. The comments, reflections, pulse-check responses, and progress you create on this site are never fed into any AI or machine-learning model, by Modus Institute or by anyone else.
The site does not use AI to process your contributions, and its service providers (Vercel and Mux) process your data only to run hosting and video delivery, not to train their models on it. Some course material discusses how to use AI in product work; that is teaching content and is unrelated to how this site handles your information. If that ever changes, this statement will be updated before any such feature goes live.
Retention
How long it is kept
Account, progress, and contribution data is retained for the duration of the engagement and the cohort it supports. When the engagement ends, the State and Modus Institute agree on what is archived for program reporting and what is deleted. You may ask for your account and contributions to be removed at any time (see below).
State law
Public records
Because this site supports a State of Montana program, some information may be subject to Montana public-records law. Coursework and program records may be retained or disclosed as that law requires, independent of the retention practices described above.
Your rights
Your choices
You can ask to see what is held about you, correct it, or have your account and contributions deleted. Password managers and paste are supported on the sign-in form, and the site uses no CAPTCHA or puzzle-based authentication.
